Teenage Dreams to

Successful Business Man

Andrew Grider

Andrew Grider, President of Southern Sun Landscaping, who comes from humble beginnings from a military household was born in Bury St. Edmunds, England. However, his parents retired from the military as a teenager moving to the beautiful Roanoke Valley in the Commonwealth of Virginia. From the ages between 13 to 16 years old, he founded three landscaping companies being “R&A Lawncare”, “Hire A Son Lawncare, and “Andrew’s Home and Garden LLC”. Though these business ventures were unsustainable through the unforeseeable future, they established the inherent knowledge and necessary foundation regarding the success that followed suit. Andrew not only excelled as a young entrepreneur, but took his studies as a pupil seriously, graduating from Cave Spring High School in 2016 as valedictorian. Following his love for landscaping, working with his hands, and customer service he began studying Building Construction at Virginia Tech believing college was the next step in life. Although, after much thought and consideration, Andrew realized his real passion was always to man the helm of his own company, subsequently founding Southern Sun Landscaping in 2017. Finishing his second year of college, he dropped out of college because his newly founded company began showing much promise, and Andrew was fully committed to his company. Andrew specifically prides himself to deliver unrivaled service, utmost integrity, customer satisfaction, and attention to detail. These values not only have brought Southern Sun Landscaping much advancement pertaining to the landscaping industry, but gave him professional recognition. Voted top 10 “Best Local Company for Home Services” by WSLS in 2019, “Business Leader Champions Among Us” from VASH in 2020, “Sustainable Business Community Leader” from VASH in 2021, and most recently an accommodation from the U.S. Senator Mark Warner more than proves this company's quality control and significance. Southern Sun Landscaping continues to grow exponentially every year because of Andrew’s tenacity, willingness to learn, and viewpoint that the grass is always greener on the other side with enough fertilizer!
