36 years of Heavy Equipment, Landscape & Construction Machinery Maintenance Tips and Tricks

Stan: All right guys. Today, it's all about our favorite part of owning equipment. Running it? No. Who wants to run it and smash down buildings and have fun playing in the snow? Everybody likes to grease it and maintain it of course. Today, we're going to punch 30 some odd years of maintenance into this video and give you all the best tips and tricks, so that maintenance doesn't have to be such a chore because if you're anything like me, I honestly would rather be driving a piece of equipment than maintaining it, but maintaining it is what keeps the money rolling in instead of your piece of equipment going to the repair shop.

Stan: So, I'm going to share with you all of the best things that I've learned that my father taught me and that my guys along the way have picked up from other people inside the industry. What are you waiting for? Let's go maintain some equipment. Yee Ha.

Stan: All right guys, it's 40 degrees in Minnesota and it finally feels like mother nature's not...

The fastest Snow plow ever made -16′ Monster back plow Finishes a driveway in seconds Bat Wing Plow

Stan Genadek: Just plowed a driveway out in under 20 seconds.

Stan Genadek: I thought I knew all about snowplowing 'cause I've done it for 30 years, until I went to Michigan into this one area where they get lake-effect snow, 100 plus inches per year. Now I've gone out snowplowing a total so far this year of nine times. These guys have gone out 48 times. This is like snowplowing 2.0.

Stan Genadek: Their equipment is next level. They've got the be able to move massive quantities of snow as fast as possible, and what I found when I went to Michigan was they're kind of on a different playing field than we are over in Minnesota.

Stan Genadek: I made it. This is the home of Short Iron Fabrication. I love shops like this. This is my kind of people right here.

Stan Genadek: There's the man. There's Jason. How you doing, Jay?

Jason: Good. How are you?

Stan Genadek: I'm good. I'm good. So, this is the little 12-footer you're working on.

Jason: Twelve footer. Kind of an entry-level blade.

Dan: What's up, you guys? Tools In Action. Yes, I'm alone today. Eric's not around. There's been some changes in the channel lately. You might see John Miller on here. Eric's still around, it's just he's got a lot of stuff going on his plate right now. You gotta get all the stuff together. He's in business mode, so he'll be in and out of these few videos coming up, but Stanley Dirt Monkey, he was out of here today you guys, and he showed us something cool. Everybody knows I love the Ventrac, and I plow all my neighbors out. It takes me roughly 10 to 15 minutes with the Ventrac to do my driveway. I think I have a 60 inch blade on it. Stanley came out here today with something from a company called Back Iron Industries I believe, and they're out of Michigan with another made in the USA tool.

Dan: Now, I know when we're talking this heavy equipment stuff, made in the USA really means a lot you guys, because they're using better steel than you see on these oversea made factories....

Caterpillar Skid Loader Vs BobCat Skid Steer at the GIE-Expo

Stan: This is just a massive machine. You notice that they pointed out they all face you. They all face the operator. I love what you said, they're not hidden back here. He's a grease Nazi, I found out. They call me the black Nazi, here's the grease Nazi. Every eight hours. But if you're missing the zerk, if you can't find that zerk, do you think that zerk is gonna get greased in 8 hours? No, then what's gonna happen is your pin is gonna wear out. When that doesn't get changed in time, then your bushing's gonna wear out and then you've got a big dump.

Travis: With something like a grommet like that, matters. We figured that out with Bobcat, it's kind of what I like about the Caterpillars, that the attention to detail is there. The price is higher, but things like that are not really happening on a- She said every 50 hours one light's gonna go out.

Stan: Oh, on a Bobcat?

Travis: Yeah.

Stan: I buy used Bobcats all the time.

Travis: The plate over the lights is a good solution,...
