Caterpillar Skid Loader Vs BobCat Skid Steer at the GIE-Expo

Stan: This is just a massive machine. You notice that they pointed out they all face you. They all face the operator. I love what you said, they're not hidden back here. He's a grease Nazi, I found out. They call me the black Nazi, here's the grease Nazi. Every eight hours. But if you're missing the zerk, if you can't find that zerk, do you think that zerk is gonna get greased in 8 hours? No, then what's gonna happen is your pin is gonna wear out. When that doesn't get changed in time, then your bushing's gonna wear out and then you've got a big dump.

Travis: With something like a grommet like that, matters. We figured that out with Bobcat, it's kind of what I like about the Caterpillars, that the attention to detail is there. The price is higher, but things like that are not really happening on a- She said every 50 hours one light's gonna go out.

Stan: Oh, on a Bobcat?

Travis: Yeah.

Stan: I buy used Bobcats all the time.

Travis: The plate over the lights is a good solution,...

Review of the Echo PB-77H Backpack Blower

We’re going to do a review of this Echo PB-77H Backpack Blower. Now the first thing I can tell you about this blower, in my opinion. I’ve used it for quite a few hours, and is this thing is a beast. When I use this thing, I can actually feel the torque.  When I trottle it up, I can feel it shifting my body back.  So, if you guys are going to be using a machine like this, synch the padded straps tight.  Don't leave them loose hanging on and then throttle it all at once. Can you actually feel it?  Yeah. It pulls me back.  I've noticed that I have to have the straps tight, and when I throttle it up it pulls me back.  Which is not back, because when you're buying a blower, you want power. You've used this blower more than anybody else.  What are your thoughts?  Works good. Runs good. I mean, it has a lot of power.  In can clean out rock beds and grass and all that stuff. You've run this thing over and over again, day after day,...

Toro Grandstand Review - Mowing a Steep Slope

Stan: All right, we're in Saint Paul, Minnesota and we're going to be doing a product review, the Toro 52" Grandstand Mower. We haven't left anything to chance on this video, we're going to talk about the capabilities of this lawnmower, and if you see we've got a laser ...

Stan: Because camera angles lie, it's easy to make a modest slope look more aggressive than is, I've taken the time to set up a laser. We've measured the actual height of this lawn over the run going down to determine the actual angle that this lawn [inaudible 00:00:42]

Stan: Just a little bit over a 1.15 to one rise to ration run on this job site. This is about as extreme as you would ever want to attempt to mow. What you're going to find we're going to do in this video is not only show you how this Grandstand works behind us, but the fact that you can take it sideways on a hill like this. I don't recommend you doing this, but we're showing you what these lawnmowers are capable of in this video. I want you to...

Case Skid Loader Review

At the same time that I was testing out a Case mini excavator, I was also testing out a new Case skid loader. This machine is built like a tank, but it is not flawless. I was absolutely blown away by the Case mini excavator, but with the Case skid loader, I was just very impressed. It still gets high remarks, but let me tell you a little bit about the good points about this Case skid loader. And then let me tell you where I think they could maybe make some improvements. One of the things that absolutely was amazing with this case loader was its responsiveness.

The Good

One of the things that absolutely was amazing with this Case loader was its responsiveness.  Now I used the hand control machine, but I prefer hand/foot controls. That's what I just grew up operating, but in this case, the hand controls were absolutely so responsive. So what do you think of it?  Really responsive. I noticed that.  The hand control machine like is great. It takes awhile to get used to....

Case Heavy Equipment Review

Case Mini Excavator

I've run every single excavator brand that's ever been made, and I took on the challenge of doing a review on a Case mini excavator. And I'm going to tell you, it was my job to find a flaw in this machine. When I do an equipment review I don't want to just give you all fluff and not give me anything critical to take away from it, but I couldn't find a problem with this machine. I have literally never run a better excavator for size, weight, and power in my life. When I got into this machine, it was very intuitive. It was almost second nature. It was the way I like my controls laid out, but that isn't a critical element. You can always get used to the way a machine is laid out. The absolute most important factors are just two factors. You're pulling power on your bucket is one of them. But even more important to me than pulling power on the bucket, is track power. I would tell you that it is very easy to get yourself in trouble in an excavator. You over...

Chainsaw Review- Gas or Electric - Does Dewalt Stand a Chance?

We're going to be talking about chainsaws today, and specifically their applications. we're not going to go in technical details of how many cc's a gas powered chainsaw may have; if you want those kind of details I'm going to recommend you go check out my friends at the Tools in Action crew over on YouTube.

Tools in Action

Tools in Action show: What's up you guys?! Welcome to the Tool-a-Thon. It's going to be a weekly show where we show you guys the latest in tool innovation. Stan: They have phenomenal reviews! Today what we're going to be talking about is real world application. When you may need a gas powered chain saw, and IF an electric chainsaw could even be a viable option in your arsenal. So let's get started. Three, two, one. Alright, before I get started, the one thing I want to point out is I've never accepted any kind of money to do a tool review. That way I get to say what I want about all of these tools, good, bad, or in between, the companies can't control me. That may...

Ventrac Tractor Review - Stuck in the Mud

Ventrac Tractor Review

The project was restoring a beach; the challenge was the ground was too soft to even support the weight of a skid loader with tracks. As soon as you try to park a loader down there, it would just sink until the Ventrac came in. First thing we were going to do is just give it a test run. We were just going to see what it could do. So, we brought up the brush hog, brought out a stump grinder and we brought out a power rake. We had to remove the old dead vegetation, grind down and get rid of all the stumps and level off the ground so that it can be converted to usable yard space. We tentatively went in not knowing if the brush hog could handle what was down there. This thing was an absolute beast. It blew our minds away. I would have never said in my wildest dreams that this tool could handle brush like this. What we found out is, this brush hog not only cuts it down, but it pulverizes it. It basically leaves very little behind which is a beautiful thing because...

Dewalt Outdoor Power Tools- Gas VS Electric / Battery Blower & Trimmer Comparison

Dewalt has laid the gauntlet down; they want me to put the theory to the test that electricity can replace gasoline. We're going to find out if that's true. Jake is double-fisting it. Go for it Jake. Today we're going to be talking about Dewalt's electric line-up and what is right for your company. Before we get started, I want to clarify something. There is a difference between the 20 volt setup and the bigger 40 volt setup which is more for the professional landscaper.

Differences

Let's talk about that difference. You can pop the battery out of the 20 volt outdoor tools and run them in your drills and run them into your power tools as well. The 40 volt set up is designed for longer run times, something landscapers will typically use. It's more of a deep cell battery and it's got to withstand hotter temperatures. It's a little heavier duty tool as well because it's designed for those guys that...

Empire Indestructible Level?

An Indestructible Level

A level is a tool of trust. What do you got in the gun Uncle Tom? Number five and number four ball gauge. You get the control point; you make sure your level is in good shape. What happens if you drop it? You have to trust that it's strong enough to withstand a few bumps and bruises along the way. So we're having some Sunday fun. And Empire claims to have the strongest level ever. We are going to put that to the test. Okay, you ready for this one? Here boys, catch. Here it goes. That was a good hit. That's about everything I've got! That farm cat has fast legs. Colten: It follows us, I like it. Tom: Still right on. Stan: Still right on? Stan: Turn it around; let's see how many damages this thing got so far. Stan: Boys stay behind that wall.

Uncle Tom Shoots the Level

Stan: What do you got in the gun Uncle Tom? Tom: Number five and number four. Stan:  Number five and number four, what gauge? Tom: Twelve gauge. Stan: Twelve gauge five, twelve gauge four....

Asphalt, Concrete or Paver Driveways - Which is the best?!?

Asphalt, concrete, or brick stone paver patio, which surface is right for your property? We’re going to go over the pros and cons of each, what kind of maintenance you can expect out of each material and what the initial investment is in relation to the other materials when you're thinking about first doing an install.

Asphalt

Let's start with asphalt. Asphalt, the average price is going to vary by your geographical location but will be between four to eight dollars per square foot. Asphalt typically has the least initial investment into it but be warned, asphalt also has the highest level of maintenance of the three surfaces that we've covered. After your initial installation happens, about every three years you should expect to do a resurfacing. Asphalt is going to develop cracks and you have to apply a rubberized compound which stops the cracks from spreading and spidering throughout the driveway.

Concrete

Concrete comes in about dead middle for initial expense, averaging...
